적상산은 무주 시내에서 남대천 아래 남쪽에 위치한 산으로, 사면이 절벽으로 둘러싸여 가을 단풍이 붉게 물들면 여인네의 치마와 같다 하여 적상(赤裳)이라는 이름이 붙어졌다.

라이딩 코스는 적상산의 북쪽 사면에 2개의 순환코스와, 적상산 동쪽에 위치한 청량산의 북서쪽 자락에 나 있는 1개의 임도 코스이다. 코스의 길이가 그다지 길지 않아서 하룻동안에 인접한 두개의 산에 나 있는 코스를 모두 라이딩 하기에도 부담이 없다. 적상산 임도와 청량산 임도는 조금 떨어져 있어서 두 코스 사이는 로드로 이동하여야 하지만, 두 코스를 합쳐도 거리가 그다지 길지 않아 무주시내에 있는 라이더라면 토요일 오후에 잠시 시간을 내어서 라이딩하기에도 부담이 없다.

적상산 코스는 크게 순환하는 코스 안에 작게 순환하는 코스가 겹쳐져 있는 형태이다. 따라서, 코스를 구성하기에 따라서 두개의 순환코스를 모두 라이딩하거나 둘을 적절히 혼합하여 자신만의 코스를 라이딩할 수도 있다. 작은 순환코스에는 코스도와 거리표시가 되어 있는 것으로 보아 무주군에서 MTB코스로 개발한 듯 하다.

적상산 정상에는 양수발전소 상부댐이 있는데, 그 곳까지 올라가는 도로가 있어 무주그란폰도 피니시 코스로 이용되기도 한다. 무주의 특산물로 머루와인이 있는데, 상부댐 올라가는 도로 초입에는 댐 공사시 뚫었던 터널을 활용하여 만든 '머루와인동굴'이 있어서 와인을 시음하고 구매할 수 있다.

무주 시내에 있는 무주등나무운동장에 주차가 가능하다.

3개의 짧은 코스를 라이딩하므로 라이딩 도중에 식수와 음식을 보급하면 된다.

Jeoksangsan is a mountain located in the southern Namdaecheon from downtown Muju, and the slopes are surrounded by cliffs, and when autumn leaves turn red, it is named Jeoksang(means 'red skirt') because it is like a woman's skirt.

The riding course consists of two circular courses on the northern slope of Jeoksangsan Mountain and one forest trail on the northwest foot of Cheongnyangsan, located on the east side of Jeoksangsan Mountain. The length of the course is not very long, so it is not burdensome to ride all the courses on two adjacent mountains in one day. The road between Jeoksangsan and Cheongnyangsan is a little far apart, so the distance between the two courses is not very long, so if you are a rider in Muju city, you can take a moment to ride on Saturday afternoon.

The Jeoksangsan course is a form in which a small circulating course overlaps a large circulating course. Therefore, depending on the composition of the course, you can ride both cycles or mix the two properly to ride your own course. It seems that Muju-gun developed the MTB course as the course map and distance are marked on the small circular course.

There is an upper dam of the pumping power plant at the top of Jeoksangsan Mountain, and there is a road that goes up to it, so it is also used as a finish course for the Muju Gran Fondo. Muroo(kind of wild grape) Wine is a special product of Muju. At the entrance of the road going up the upper dam, there is a'Moroo Wine Cave' made using a tunnel drilled during the dam construction, so you can taste and purchase wine.

Parking is possible at Muju Dengnamu Stadium in downtown Muju.

Between three short courses, you can supply drinking water and food during the ride.
